Slovakia – White Wilderness

Since 2012 I’m participating in the White Wilderness project from the Slovak Wildlife Society.    This project focuses on snow tracking of mainly lynx and wolves, but also prey species.

Since 2013 I got the opportunity to go back as a staff member (Volunteer Team Leader) to share this nice experience with new volunteers. We are also collecting DNA samples (hairs, scat, urine, blood,…) for analysis. Furthermore I’m responsible for the pick up and drop off of the volunteers, safety talks, looking after the equipment, collecting data, arranging data entering on the computer, general welfare of the volunteers, … It was and is still a great experience!

In 2015 I also was a staff member when a student group from Wolverhampton University came to Slovakia to get more experience in wildlife biology.
